Sight words are words that are recognized by sight, rather than sounded out. They are also known as high frequency words because they occur often in printed text.
Since sight words make up such a large percentage of the English language, it is important for children to learn them early on.
By being able to recognize sight words quickly and easily, children can gain confidence in their reading skills and become more fluent readers.
