Bear Paper Bag Puppet:
Creating crafts like this can be a fun way for kids to develop their hand and eye coordination, muscle strength, and other important developmental skills. It’s also a great way for kids to work on their listening comprehension and following multi-step directions.
Why Are Fine Motor Skills Important?
From holding a pencil to turning the pages in a book, kids use their fine motor skills as they are learning to read and write.
The development of the small muscles in the hands and fingers in coordination with the eyes is important in not only children’s learning but also in their everyday life.

How To Make The Bear Paper Bag Puppet:
After reading the book Corduroy by Don Freeman or your favorite book about bears, your preschoolers will begin making this craft for kids. First, they will color the bear and buttons if you are using the black and white template. They can color the bear brown like the one in the book or any color they want.
Next, your kids will cut out the bear’s head, arms, and buttons. For children who need help using scissors, you can have them practice cutting the bear’s head (having extra copies is always helpful) and then cut out the other pieces for them.
After cutting out all of the pieces, your preschoolers will glue the bear’s head and arms to the paper bag. They will then count the number of buttons that they want on their puppet and glue them on.
Finally, your kids will fill in the “The bear has _______ buttons” card with the number of buttons that they glued on their bear. They will then glue the card on their puppet.
If you want your kids to have different numbers of buttons on their bears, you can give them each a number to use. After they create their puppets they can line up and put the numbers in order.
This Bear Paper Bag Puppet is a creative way for kids to work on number sense, fine motor skills, and much more!
