Cactus Letter Match Activity:

Through this hands-on activity, your preschoolers will not only practice letter recognition activity, but they will develop their fine motor skills too.

By connecting the cards together using connect links, your preschoolers will work on their hand and eye coordination, finger muscle strength, and much more.

Why Are Fine Motor Skills Important?

From holding a pencil to turning the pages in a book, your preschoolers use their fine motor skills every day as they are learning to read and write.

The development of these skills is important so your kids can grasp a pencil, form letters, write, and more.

To get this letter activity ready for your preschoolers, click on the button below and fill out the form. Then, download and print the cards. I like to print my resources on white card stock because it is more durable. But, you can use copy paper too.

Next, laminate the cards so your kids can use this resource over and over. Then, cut the cards apart and punch holes on all of the black dots. You can store the cards and links in a small box or bag for a no-prep, on-the-go activity.

If you don’t have connect links, you can cut pipe cleaners into pieces that are about 3 inches long. Then, bend the pieces into ovals shapes to create your own links.

How To Use The Cactus Letter Match Activity:

To begin this alphabet activity, your preschoolers will pick a capital letter card and identify the letter on it. Next, they will sort through the cards to find the matching lowercase letter.

Your kids will then connect the two cards together using connect links or math links.

They will continue sorting, matching, and connecting the letter cards together until they have found all of the capital and lowercase letter pairs.

If your pre-readers have just begun learning the ABC’s, have them start with just a few cards and then add more as their letter knowledge increases.
