Getting Ready To Use The Christmas Tree Letter Recognition Activity:

  • Christmas Tree to Feed
  • 26 Ornaments with Capital Letters
  • 26 Ornaments with Lowercase Letters

What Else Is Needed:

  • White Card Stock 
  • Scissors 
  • Paper Bag or Cardboard Box
  • Glue

To prepare this letter recognition activity for your preschoolers, click on the button below and fill out the form.

Then, download and print the Christmas tree and ornaments on white card stock.

Next, laminate the printables and cut all the pieces apart.

Finally, tape or glue the Christmas tree onto a paper bag or cardboard box (such as a small tissue box) and cut out its mouth. 

You may also want to sort the capital and lowercase ornament cards into two different groups, so your kids can work on one set at a time. 

Christmas Alphabet Activity

How To Use The Christmas Tree Letter Recognition Activity:

To begin this alphabet activity, your preschoolers will select an ornament card. They will then say the name of the capital or lowercase letter on it as they “feed” it to the Christmas tree.

Learning the ABC's

If your kids have just started learning the names of the letters, start with just a few ornaments cards. You can add more as their letter knowledge increases.

If your children already know the names of the letters, they can work on saying their sounds as they feed the Christmas tree.
