Your preschoolers will love putting the star on the tree as they practice writing capital letters with these Christmas Tree Letter Writing Mats! This letter formation resource is just one of the 25 Days of Christmas Activities that will make your holiday season full of fun!
Christmas Tree Letter Writing Mats:
Before kids can learn how to read, they need to be able to recognize the letters of the alphabet by their shape. Using letter mats like these holiday-themed ones are a fun way for pre-writers to learn and practice letter shapes and formation.
Using this writing activity will help your preschoolers work on using writing tools and their pencil grip too. Pre-writing activities like these are also a great way for kids to develop their fine motor skills, hand muscle strength, and more.
What Is Letter Recognition?
Letter recognition is the ability to recognize and name all of the lowercase and capital letters. Children who can recognize the letters of the alphabet can distinguish between them too.

To use this letter writing activity, your preschoolers will pick a mat and identify the capital letter on it. They will then start at the star and trace the letter using a dry erase marker.
When your kids reach the Christmas tree, they have finished writing the letter. Finally, your kids can trace the letters at the bottom of the mat for more letter formation practice.
Your preschoolers can also form the letter using jingle bells, play dough, pom poms, or any other small manipulative. There are so many different ways to use these letter mats!
