Making crafts is a creative way for your kids to practice developmental skills too. Practicing these skills will help your preschoolers develop their hand and finger control, writing grip, and much more!
What Are Fine Motor Skills?
Fine motor skills are things that children do such as pinching, rolling, and squeezing that involve the coordination between small muscles, like those of the hands and fingers, with their eyes.
From holding a pencil to turning the pages in a book, kids use their fine motor skills as they are learning to read and write.

What’s Needed:
- Craft Sticks (5)
- Paint
- Paint Brush
- Glue
- Pom Pom
- Green Pipe Cleaner
- Scissors
How To Make The Craft Stick Flower Craft:
To begin making this Spring craft, your kids will paint four craft sticks any color they want for the flower petals.
After the paint dries, your children will glue two craft sticks together to make the letter “x.” Next, they will glue the other two craft sticks together to make another letter “x.”
Then, your kids will overlap the two letter “x’s” and glue them together to create the flower petals.
While the glue dries, your children will paint one craft stick green. After the paint dries, they glue it to the back of the other craft sticks or petals to make the flower stem.
Next, your kids will glue a pom-pom onto the center of the popsicle sticks or flower petals. They can also use a large button or circle-shaped piece of craft foam.
Then, your children will cut a green pipe cleaner in half. They will then bend each piece to create an oval shape or the plant’s leaves.
Finally, your kids will glue the two pipe cleaner leaves onto the bottom of the green craft stick.
This Craft Stick Flower Craft is an easy project for your kids to create and a fun way for them to work on developmental skills. It is also the perfect way to celebrate that Spring has finally arrived and soon there will be flowers bloom all around us.
