Dinosaur Mud Sight Word Writing Tray:
What are writing trays? They are shallow trays, plastic containers, or even just a cookie sheet that are filled with a material such as sand or salt that can be moved or manipulated. Your kids can move the material in writing trays to write letters, sight words, spelling words, and much more! This word word activity is multi-sensory way for kids to work on letter formation, handwriting, and pre-writing skills too. Your children will work on developing and strengthen their fine motor skills.

- Chocolate Pudding
- Chocolate Cookies (optional)
- Toy Dinosaurs (optional)
To prepare this hands-on word work activity, click on the pencil below to download and print the dinosaur sight word cards. I like to print my resources on white card stock, because it is more durable. But, you can use copy paper too. Next, laminate the cards so you can reuse them if your kids get any pudding on them. Then, cut the cards apart.
To get the writing tray ready, fill it with chocolate pudding. You add extra texture, you can crumble up chocolate cookies such as Oreos and add the pieces to the pudding. If you don’t want to use pudding, you can use sand, play dough, flour, cornmeal, slime, or cinnamon. The possibilities are endless!
How To Use The Dinosaur Mud Sight Word Writing Tray:
To use this sight word activity, your kids will a dinosaur card and identify the word on it. They will then practice writing the sight word in the chocolate pudding or other writing tray filler. Your kids can use their finger, toy dinosaur, or another writing tool to form the letters in the word.
