Fingerprint Flowerpot Craft

Fingerprint Flowerpot Craft:

So, you may be wondering why I’m sharing how to make this flowerpot craft on ABC’s of Literacy. Well, creating crafts can be a fun way for kids to develop their fine motor skills, hand and eye coordination, muscle strength, and much more. Why are these skills important for your children to develop? When your kids have strong developmental skills, it will help them be able to hold a pencil, write, and even turn pages in a book.

As a former classroom teacher and homeschool mom, I also want to share crafts that are easy for children of all ages to create in the classroom or at home. Like other moms, I especially love crafts that use my kids’ hand prints, foot prints, or fingerprints. They are such precious keepsakes!

Getting Ready To Make A Fingerprint Flowerpot Craft:

What’s Needed:
  • Terra Cotta Pot
  • Acrylic Paint
  • Paint Brushes
  • Buttons
  • Modge Podge (Optional)

How To Make A Fingerprint Flowerpot Craft:

To make this fingerprint craft, paint the Terra Cotta pot with acrylic paint. My son picked a light blue, but you can use any color paint. Then, set the flower pot aside and let it dry completely.

Paint the Flowerpot

After the paint is dry, pick the different color paints you want to use for the flowers. Next, press your finger into the paint and then press your finger onto the flowerpot. Continue pressing your fingerprints by placing them on the flowerpot clockwise to create a flower shape.

Press Fingerprints on Flowerpot in Flower Shape

Next, apply a layer of Modge Podge on the flower pot to seal your artwork before you place on your buttons in the next step. This step is optional but recommended.

Glue Buttons on the Fingerprint Flowerpot Craft

After the Modge Podge dries, glue on buttons in the middle of your fingerprint flowers. Your flowerpot is now all ready for you to plant your flower!

This Fingerprint Flowerpot Craft will be a sweet Mother’s Day present for mom, grandma, or someone special. This fingerprint craft would also make a cherished keepsake to treasure forever.
