Kite Letter Match Activity

It’s National Kite Flying Day! Have your preschoolers work on learning the ABC’s and develop their fine motor skills with this Kite Letter Match Activity

Letter Activity

Kite Letter Match Activity:

Not only is this activity an interactive way for preschoolers to practice letter recognition, but it’s also a great way for them to develop their fine motor skills.

By connecting the two cards together using connect links or math links, your kids will work on their hand and eye coordination, finger muscle strength, and much more.

Why Are Fine Motor Skills Important?

From holding a pencil to turning the pages in a book, kids use their fine motor skills as they are learning to read and write. These skills also help children perform tasks in their everyday lives like holding utensils, buttoning and zipping clothes, and more

To prepare this letter recognition activity, click on the button below to download and print the cards. I like to print my resources on white card stock because it is more durable. But, you can use white copy paper too.

Next, laminate the cards so your kids can use this activity over and over. Then, cut the cards apart and punch holes on all of the black dots.

If you don’t have connect links, you can cut a pipe cleaner into pieces that are about 3 inches long. Then, bend the pieces into ovals shapes to create your own links.

How To Use The Kite Letter Match Activity:

To begin this letter recognition activity, your preschoolers will pick a capital letter card and identify the letter on the kite. Next, they will sort through the cards to find the matching lowercase letter.

Your kids will then connect the two cards together using connect links or math links. They will continue connecting the letter cards together until they have matched all 26 of the capital and lowercase letters.

Letter Recognition Activity

If your pre-readers are just starting to learn the letters of the alphabet, you can start with just a few cards and then add more as their letter knowledge increases.
