You can make copies for your all of your students to do this activity as a whole group. Or, you can place the printables in a dry erase pocket and have your kids reuse this resource during small groups or literacy centers.
How To Use The Letter A Story For Preschoolers:
Just like with the alphabet books, there are so many different ways to use this letter story!
Highlight the Letter A– As you are reading the story to your kids, have them highlight all of the letter A’s that they can find on a page. Highlighters are always so much fun for preschoolers to use!
Review Concepts of Print– When you are reading, have your kids follow along by pointing to each word. You can also ask them to find letters, words, and punctuation.
Circle the Sight Words– To differentiate this alphabet activity, you can have your kids find and circle a sight words throughout the story.
Draw a Picture– At the end, there is a space so your students can draw a picture to illustrate the story. They can also create their own “letter A” sentence.
If you are a classroom teacher, you can read this story together with your class. You can then have your students work on reading it independently and send it home for even more additional practice.
