Did you see the Letter A Aquarium Craft that we shared last week? We are continuing our Letter of the Week series with the next letter of the alphabet- the letter B. When I think about words that begin with the letter B, the first one that comes to mind is BOOKS! So, we made this Letter B Books Craft for the second letter of the alphabet.
How To Make A Letter B Books Craft:
- Letter B Template
- Craft Foam
- Black Marker
- Paper or Card Stock
To prepare for this activity, download the letter B template (click on the button below) and print it onto paper or card stock. Next, cut the letter B template out. If you are making these with a group of children, you may want to make a few letter templates. I usually make one or two per table so the students can take turns using it.
To begin the activity, the children will trace the letter B onto a piece of craft foam and cut it out. If your students don’t have the fine motor skills or hand muscle strength to cut yet, they may need hand over hand support.
After cutting out the letter B, the children draw a rectangle for the book and spine onto a light colored piece of craft foam. As an option, they can draw the spine onto a darker shade of craft foam to give the book more dimension. Next, the children will draw an oval for the pages onto white craft foam.
After cutting all of the pieces apart, the children will glue the parts of the book together. They will then glue the books onto the letter B.
Finally, the children can add details to the books including a title with craft foam or craft foam stickers and a black marker.
This Letter B Books Craft is a fun way to learn about the second letter of the alphabet. It will also be a great addition to your Letter of the Week units.
