- Laminator and Laminating Pouches

Next, laminate the mats or place them in a dry erase pocket, so your kids can reuse this activity. Then, cut the hearts apart.
Instead of using the hearts, your kids can use mini erasers, pom poms, play dough, or any other counting manipulative. They can also draw the hearts using a dry erase marker.
How To Use The Raining Hearts Addition Activity:
After reading the book The Day It Rained Hearts by Felicia Bond, your kids can do this Valentine’s Day math activity during math centers, morning tubs, or as an enrichment resource.
First, your kids will pick a mat and count the number of hearts on it. They can also see that number written in the first box on the bottom of the printable.
Next, your children will use the hearts or another counting manipulative to add on to that number till they have a sum of 10.
They will then count the number of hearts that they added to the mat.
After counting the hearts, your kids will use a dry erase marker and write that number in the box. Finally, they will read the number sentence.
