This Tie Dye Coffee Filter Flower craft for kids is a process art activity that help kids develop their fine motor skills and creativity as they are having fun. It is one of my favorite crafts to make with a group of kids because no two flowers are alike and it is entertaining for all ages.
Tie Dye Coffee Filter Flower:
Creating crafts can be a fun way for kids to develop their fine motor skills, hand and eye coordination, muscle strength, and much more. These developmental skills are important, because they will help children be able to hold a pencil, write, and even turn pages in a book. Crafting is not only fun but also a great way for kids to work on their listening comprehension and following multi-step directions.
Getting Ready To Make A Tie Dye Coffee Filter Flower:
What’s Needed:
- Coffee Filters
- Washable Markers
- Spray Bottle with Water
- Green Pipe Cleaner
- Scissors
- Glue
How To Make To Make A Tie Dye Coffee Filter Flower:
To begin making this flower craft, your kids will color the coffee filter with washable markers. They don’t have to color the entire coffee filter completely, because the colors will spread and blend together after spraying it with water.
Next, your kids will spray the colored coffee filter with water. They should use just enough water to make the colors blend together. This can be a little messy so they should spray the coffee filter on a washable work surface such as a plastic tray or place it on a piece of butcher paper.
After spraying it with water, let the coffee filter dry completely. Next, fold the coffee filter in half and then in half again. You may want to put a dot of glue in between each layer so the coffee filter doesn’t unfold.
Next, cut the point of the coffee filter off and put a green pipe cleaner through the hole. You may want to bend the end of the pipe cleaner so it doesn’t slid back out of the hole.
After attaching the coffee filter and pipe cleaner together, fold two pieces of green pipe cleaner in the shape of leaves. Then, attach the two leaves to the other end of the pipe cleaner stem. If you don’t have pipe cleaner, you can also attach the coffee filter flower to a green craft stick.
