Tooth Alphabet Activity:
This multi-sensory, pre-reading activity is one of our favorites! It is a fun, hands-on way for kids to work on letter knowledge by identifying both capital and lowercase letters of the alphabet.
Using a toothbrush to brush the tooth and reveal the letter will help kids develop their dexterity and fine motor skills.
Your pre-writers will also practice letter formation as they write the letters on their recording sheet.
This interactive activity is a simple way to add an important life skill into your literacy lesson too.
This alphabet activity can be used in any early childhood classroom or homeschool.
Or, you can simply use it with your kids at home for some extra letter knowledge practice.
What Is Letter Recognition?
Letter recognition is the ability to recognize and name all of the lowercase and capital letters. Kids who can recognize the letters of the alphabet can distinguish between them too.

Children need to be supervised while completing all activities.

- Capital Letter Teeth Cards
- Lowercase Letter Teeth Cards
- Alphabet Teeth Recording Sheet
What’s Needed:
- White Card Stock
- Laminator
- Laminating Pouches
- Toothbrush
- Toothpaste, Paint, or Whip Cream
- Cup of Water
- Towel
To prepare this alphabet activity, click on the button below get the printables in your inbox.
Then, laminate the cards and cut them apart.
Finally, spread a thin layer of toothpaste, paint, or whip cream on each card you are using so that it covers the letter.
How To Use The Tooth Alphabet Activity:
To play, your kids will select a card and brush the toothpaste off of it. They may need a cup of water to rinse the toothbrush and a towel to wipe the residue off the cards.
Your kids will then identify the letter on the card and write it on the recording sheet.
Your kids are sure to have fun learning the letters of the alphabet while brushing their teeth while doing this Tooth Alphabet Activity.
It’s an educational and entertaining letter knowledge activity for your pre-readers to do during Dental Health Month!

Adding the 5 senses--scented, flavored toothpaste, cream or gel for texture, blue vs white. How hard do you scrub to clean the tooth?Listen, can you hear the brush scrubbing away the paste?? Oh yes, we can see the letter appearing. So much fun!! Love your activities!
