To prepare this addition activity, fill out the form below to get the printables. Next, download and print the turkey and pies. I like to print my resources on white card stock, because it is more durable. But, you can use copy paper too.
Next, laminate the pies so your kids can use them over and over. Then, cut the turkey and pies out. Finally, tape or glue the turkey on a paper bag or cardboard box (such as a small tissue box) and cut out its mouth.
How To Play The Turkey & Pie Addition Game:
After reading your favorite turkey book, your kids will select a pumpkin pie and identify the addition problem on it. As they feed the turkey the pie, they will solve the problem and say the sum.
Your kids will continue to solve the problems until the turkey is full and has eaten all of the pumpkin pies.
This book-inspired resource can be used as an independent activity for young children in any early childhood classroom or homeschool. If you are a classroom teacher, this interactive activity can used for literacy centers, morning tubs, or as an enrichment for early finishers.
For homeschoolers, try strewing this activity or use it to reinforce what you are teaching your kids.
