Before your preschoolers and kindergarteners can learn how to read, they need to recognize, name, and match all the letters of the alphabet.
As your students squeeze and clip the clothespins onto the cards, they will also be developing their fine motor skills.
With this simple, low-prep activity, your kids will be work on important skills for beginning readers and writers.

What Else Is Needed:
- White Card Stock
- Laminator
- Laminating Sheets
- Scissors
- Clothespins
Fill out the form at the bottom of this page to get the free printable letter matching activity.
Next, download and print the cards on white card stock.
If you want your kids to be able to check their answers, put a dot or put a sticker on the back of the card where the clothespin will be after they clip it.
Then, laminate the cards and cut them apart. You can store these cards and clothespins in a small box or pouch.
How to Use the Veterinarian Letter Clip Cards:
For this letter recognition activity, your students will first pick a card and say the capital letter on the animal crate.
Next, they will look at the three lowercase letters on the paw prints and find the matching one.
Then, your preschoolers and kindergarteners will clip a clothespin on the card to cover the letter.
If you marked the answer on the back of the card, they can check to see if they clipped the clothespin on the correct spot.
Your young learners can also cover the letters will small manipulatives such as mini erasers, pom poms, or snap cubes.
They will continue to identify and match the capital and lowercase letters as they working through the other cards in the set.
