To prepare this phonics activity for your beginning readers, fill out the form at the bottom of this page.
Next, download and print the waffles and syrup bottles on white card stock.
You may want to laminate the printables too, so your kids can reuse the activity.
Then, cut out all the waffles and syrup bottles.
You can store all the pieces for this activity in a bag or box such as a pencil pouch or box for an easy literacy resource to set up or take on the go.
How to Use the Waffles & Syrup Beginning Sounds Activity:
For this phonics activity, your preschoolers and kindergarteners will pick a bottle of syrup and say the name of the picture on it.
They will also identify the sound that the picture begins with and the letter that makes that sound.
Next, your kids will sort through the waffle letter cards to find the one that matches the picture card.
When they find the correct card, your children will pair the waffle and syrup together.
For example, if your beginning readers pick the syrup bottle card with a “banana” on it.
They will then will find the letter Bb waffle card and put the two together.
