The first Wednesday in October is National Pumpkin Seed Day! Your kids can celebrate with this book-inspired Pumpkin Seed Addition Activity.

Book activities like this one are always a great way to extend your story time and make learning fun for your preschoolers and kindergarteners.

Step 1:

First, read the book, "How Many Seeds in a Pumpkin? by Margaret McNamara or another story.

Step 2:

After assembling the activity, your kids will pick a pumpkin seed and read the addition fact on it.

Step 3:

Your kids will say the answer to the problem as they “feed” the pumpkin or put the seed in it.

Tip:

You can also have your children use real pumpkin seeds to help them add the numbers on the card.

Step 4:

Your students will continue feeding the pumpkin until they solve all the addition problems.
