Are you looking for a letter recognition activity for your preschoolers to do this winter? These Winter Alphabet Clip Cards are a fun way for pre-readers to practice learning the ABC’s and develop their fine motor skills.
Winter Alphabet Clip Cards:
By squeezing clothespins open and attaching them to the cards, your kids will be developing their finger muscle strength, hand and eye coordination, and more.
All of these developmental skills are so important for pre-readers and pre-writers!
Why Are Fine Motor Skills Important?
Children need to develop their fine motor skills, because they help them do things that require dexterity and coordination like picking things up, turning pages in a book, and holding a pencil.

To prepare this alphabet activity, click on the button below and fill out the form. Then, download and print the cards on white card stock.
Next, cut the cards apart. If you want your kids to be able to check their answers, mark a dot or put a sticker on the back of the card where the clothespin will be after they clip it.
Then, laminate the cards so your children can use them over and over.
You can store them in a pencil box or pouch for a literacy activity that is easy to set up or take on the go.
How To Use The Winter Alphabet Clip Cards:
After your kids have learned both capital and lowercase letters, they can start to make the connection between the two and match them together even when they don’t look alike.
Your children will pick a card and identify the letter on it. They will then find the matching letter and clip a clothespin on it.
If you marked the answer on the back of the card, they can flip it over and check to see if they clipped the correct letter.
These Winter Alphabet Clip Cards are a fun, hands-on way for pre-readers to work on letter recognition and their fine motor skills.
This resource can be used as an independent activity for young children in any early childhood classroom or homeschool.
