Zoo Letter Cards

You can use zoo literacy activities like this one to introduce your children to different animals before your trip while also helping them work on letter formation.

Zoos are a great place to learn about animals from all over the world. They’re also a great place for kids to learn their ABCs.

These free printable zoo letter formation cards will help teach both of those things!

Each card has an image of an animal on it, as well as the letter that the animal’s name starts with.

Your kids can use these cards to practice forming letters, or they can simply learn about different animals by looking at the pictures.

Either way, these cards are a fun and educational addition to any classroom or homeschool!

For a reproducible activity:

• White Copy Paper
• Do-A-Dot Markers

For a reusable activity:

• White Card Stock
• Manipulatives (Mini Erasers, Pom Poms, Counters)
• Laminator 
• Laminating Pouches

To prepare this letter recognition activity for your kids, fill out the form at the bottom of this page.

Next, download and print the cards on copy paper. You can then make as many copies as you need for your students.

If you want your children to reuse this resource, print the cards on white card stock and laminate them.

Then, cut the cards apart. (There are two on each sheet of paper.)

How to Use the Zoo Letter Recognition Cards:

For this letter recognition activity, your preschoolers and kindergarteners will pick a card and identify the letter on it.

Next, they will say the name of the animal on the card. You can teach them that the picture begins with the sound that the letter makes. 

Then, your students will form the letter using Bingo daubers or Do-A-Dot markers.

They can also create the letter using zoo animal mini erasers, pom poms, or counters.

These free printable Zoo Letter Cards are a fun way for your kids to learn about the animals that live in a zoo and practice forming capital letters.
