- 9 Colored Animal Cards
- 45 Colored Letter Tiles
What Else Is Needed:
- Brown Bear, Brown Bear, What Do You See? by Bill Martin Jr.
- White Card Stock or Copy Paper
- Laminator and Laminating Pouches
- Magnetic Tape
- Cookie Sheet or Magnetic Board
To prepare this book-inspired activity, click on the pencil below to automatically download and print the animal and letter cards. I like to print my resources on white card stock because it is more durable. But, you can use copy paper too. Next, laminate the animal and letter cards and cut all of the pieces apart. Then, make magnetic letters by attaching a piece of magnetic tape to the back of each letter card. You may want to put pieces of the magnetic tape on the back of the animal cards too.
How To Use The Brown Bear Magnetic Letters Activity:
After reading the book Brown Bear, Brown Bear, What Do You See? by Bill Martin Jr., your kids will pick an animal card, identify the color of it, and place the card on the cookie sheet. They will then find the magnetic letter cards that spell the color of the animal and place the letters in order on the cookie sheet.
This resource can be used as an independent activity for young children in any early childhood classroom or homeschool. If you are a classroom teacher, these letters mats can used for literacy centers, morning tubs, or as an enrichment activity. For homeschoolers, try strewing this activity or include it in your morning basket.
