To prepare this alphabet activity, click on the pencil below to download and print the printables. I like to print my resources on white card stock, because it is more durable. But, you can use copy paper too. Next, laminate the gumdrops so your kids can use them over and over. Then, cut the gingerbread man and gumdrops out. Finally, tape or glue the gingerbread man on a paper bag or cardboard box (such as a small tissue box) and cut out its mouth.
How To Use The Gingerbread Letter Recognition Activity:
To use this letter recognition activity, your kids will pick a gumdrop and identify the letter on it as they feed it to the gingerbread man. If your children are just starting to learn the names of the letters, start with just a few gumdrops. You can then add a couple of gumdrops every time they play.
When your kids know all of the letter names, they can say the sound that each letter makes as they feed the gingerbread man. It’s easy to differentiate this activity for your kids!
This alphabet resource can be used as an independent activity for young children in any early childhood classroom or homeschool.
