CVC words are an important building block for reading development.
They are made up of three letters- a beginning sound, a middle sound, and an ending sound.
When your young learners know how to read CVC words, they understand how to put sounds together to create words.

- 25 Hot Cocoa Mug Picture Cards
- 25 Whipped Cream Word Cards
What Else Is Needed:
- White Card Stock
- Scissors
- Laminator
- Laminating Sheets
To prepare this word work activity for your students, fill out the form at the bottom of this page.
After receiving the email with the printables, download and print the cards on white card stock.

Next, laminate the printables so you can reuse this activity over and over.
Then, cut out the hot cocoa mugs and whipped cream cards.
How to Use the Hot Chocolate CVC Words Activity:
For this CVC words activity, your kids will first pick a hot cocoa mug and identify the picture on it.

Next, they will sort through the whipped cream cards to find the one that has the CVC word to match the picture.

Then, your students will place the whipped cream card on top of the hot cocoa mug to create a tasty winter treat.

They will continue to match the whipped cream word cards to the hot cocoa picture cards until they complete the activity.
