Your students can use this resource independently, with a partner, or in a small group during literacy centers or morning tub time.
What Are Sight Words?
There are two different types of sight words. The first type of words are the ones that don’t follow the phonics “rules” so kids need to memorize them.
There are also words that are frequently used in writing so it is easier for children to remember them. That way, they can build fluency and don’t have to sound them out every time they are reading.

How To Use The Cow Sight Word Activity:
For this sight word activity, your kids will select a grass card. They will then read the word as they feed it to the cow.
If your children are just begun learning sight words, give them about four or five cards to read. After they learn those words, you can give them four or five more.
You can continue giving them a few at a time until they have learned the whole set. This will help your children learn the words without getting overwhelmed and gain confidence.
If you have students who know all these sight words, you can challenge them to use the words in a sentence or put the words in alphabetical order. It’s easy to differentiate this activity for all your young learners!
