If your kids love dinosaurs as much as mine do, they will want to use playdough to create favorites on these Dinosaur Playdough Mats. Sensory activities like this one are a “dino-mite” way for children to play and learn!
Dinosaur Playdough Mats:
Playdough is one a fun sensory play tool because your children can use their senses as they squeeze, roll, and squish it with their hands.
It’s a fun way for kids to develop their fine motor skills and hand muscle strength too. These developmental skills are so important for pre-writers.
What Is A Sensory Activity?
A sensory activity is anything that your kids can play with that stimulates their five senses: touch, smell, taste, sight, and hearing.

To get this sensory activity, click on the button below and fill out the form with your name and email address. Then, download and print the playdough mats that you want to use.
I like to print my resources on white card stock, because it is more durable. But, you can use copy paper too. Next, laminate the mats or put them in reusable dry erase pockets.
If you don’t want to use store-bought playdough, try making our Kool-Aid Play Dough. This sensory-friendly recipe smells so sweet and is soft to touch.
How To Use The Dinosaur Playdough Mats:
To begin this activity, your kids will pick a mat and identify the capital and lowercase letters on it. They will then form the letters using play dough.
Next, your preschoolers will trace the capital and lowercase letters using a dry erase marker. If your students are just starting to learn how to write, this is a fun way for them to practice letter formation.
Then, your children will identify the dinosaur. (They may need help with this part.) Together, you can use books such as My First Dinosaur Encyclopedia to learn more about the dinosaurs.
These Dinosaur Playdough Mats can be used as a fun sensory activity for preschoolers to practice letter recognition and develop their fine motor skills.
